Events

Our largest event in the Rural Municipality of Murray River is the Northumberland Fisheries Festival held annually in July of each year. In 2023, it is the 44th annual event. The Northumberland Fisheries Festival is a long-standing tradition in the community of Murray River, Prince Edward Island. Started after the completion of the Northumberland Arena in 1980, residents and tourists alike have gathered each July to socialize, eat delicious local food, take in lots of entertainment, and participate in our many activities.

Local vendors line the edges of the ice surface inside the arena yearly, promoting their products, providing information about their industries, and interacting with the public. We are happy to offer this opportunity to the business community, and thankful to those who choose to participate year after year.

There are other events held in and around Murray River each year both at the Northumberland Rink and at Murray River Leona Giddings Memorial Library. Plus local church events as well. Please stay tuned to our website for more information.

Sharing with everyone that Karri Anne Ferguson has volunteered to open our Community Hall this weekend as a shelter; if there be a need. Myself and Robert Hughes, your Official Trustee, express our deepest thanks to Karri for this.
